Compagny history

Like all other companies, Excelangues has a story to tell, discover our company history here.

1989 - Excelangues, a language training school in Lille, is created by Guillaume Devred-Smith. A forerunner in the field of language training, the concept of over the phone teaching is introduced to the North of France, with 14 languages on offer.

1992 - The team gets bigger and a second branch is created in Calais.

1994 - Launch of 'Espaces Langues' and self-training.

1995 - Skills-based theme days set up to enable perfecting communication techniques (e.g. public speaking, presenting a product).

1998 - The company continues its regional development with the creation of a branch in Valenciennes. French as a Foreign Language (FLE) courses start.

1999 - The company now employs 19 full-time trainers and works with over 300 businesses in the region. A new branch is opened in Lens.

2001 - Guillaume Devred-Smith's team is now one of the language training leaders in the region, with over 1600 trainees and a team of more than 40 trainers teaching their mother tongue.

2002 - 24 hour a day telephone lessons are launched. Two international branches are created in Sydney, Australia and Vancouver, Canada.

2003 - Paris branch is opened.
